Generations 2 1997 Batmobile

In the last story using a true Batmobile (later stories switch to an air-only vehicle), the situation is still grim, but the heros are all cooperating again. The mantle of the bat is handed down again, but this time, the recipient decides instead to go with his own persona, "Knightwing." This vehicle acts as a transition between the traditional four-wheel Batmobiles and the future air vehicles. At home on the street or in the sky, it easily survives Knightwing's first solo mission. According to artist John Byrne, the design of the car is based on Donald Campbellšs "Bluebird" land speed record car (which broke the then-current record by achieving 403.10 MPH on 14 July, 1964). Although the Batmobile is much smaller than Campbell's car, the shape of the body plus the high fenders and rear fin are clear tributes to the record breaker.
